Encaustic, a tradition of painting with beeswax, pigment and damar comes from the Greek meaning to heat or burn. Heat is used at every layer creating transparent, luminous effects. Encaustic is very versatile. My work has been described as organic and authentic. Many of my works honor the life of the honey bee which are in many ways collaborators in my process. I teach encaustic from my home studio in Mission Hills. I have shown my work all over the United States and taken encaustic workshops in Spain, Italy and San Francisco. I am originally from San Diego, attending San Diego State University and The University of San Diego.
